God knew we’d be here and what role each of us would play this week!
Our team arrived on Sunday in Johnstown, PA! After quickly unloading the cars before a strong thunderstorm, the team was able to worship with the congregation here at Crucified Ministries. Pastor Josh gave a wonderful, timely message about the roles each of us must have in the life of the church. He discussed how God has a job for each of us in the work of the church and how each of us needs to remember that we are not just to ‘Go to Church, but rather Be the Church’. He even pointed out our team’s role in the life of the ministry here in Johnstown, PA this week.
Later the team had time to reflect on this message, discuss the many varying reasons each of them had signed up to come to Johnstown this week and what they each hoped to get out of their week here. As the girls shared their personal stories it was easy to quickly see the roles of some of the members, from individuals who had experience on previous mission trips, to those having a desire to work with farm animals, and those that desire to spend part of their summer serving others. It was easy for everyone to bring Pastor Josh’s message full circle into our team and it created a great foundation for our work and team connections for the week ahead.
Monday morning the team was up early and ready to get started on the ministry work! The girls were excited to visit the farm and learn more about the amazing things God is doing there. As we worked throughout the day, the team was able to take on roles such as fence mending, gardening, hauling trees, and making stakes. It was incredibly hot throughout the day, but the team pushed through and did an amazing job in their ministry roles.
God is doing great things here in Johnstown with this team! Each of us has a role that God has specifically designed for us and I am excited to be part of helping each team member discover her role this week!
