I saw Jesus today. For real. I stood and I stared in shock, because I don't think I've ever seen Jesus so up close before, sitting right there in front of me.
A little back story–
Tabby is a 17 year girl spending the week with our team in Johnstown, PA. To put it mildly, she falls a lot. Walking, running, climbing stairs, it doesn't matter. Somehow she ends up on the ground. One fall was particularly bad, and she ended up with a slightly sprained ankle.
I was brushing my teeth in the bathroom before we were leaving to visit the skate park ministry that Crucified has on Tuesday nights. And then Jesus walked in.
I didn't realized it was Jesus at first. Jesus looked a lot like another girl on our team- Alex. She walked in and grabbed some paper towels and wet them in the sink. I asked her what she was up to and Jesus answered, "I'm going to wash Tabby's feet."
I stood there, toothpaste dripping from my mouth, trying to process what I was hearing. She was going to wash Tabby's feet? She was going to WHAT?? A minute later I walked out of the bathroom and there was Tabby lying on her bed, and Jesus was kneeling at the end of the mattress … washing her feet.
If you're wondering how I knew this was Jesus, go check out the gospel of John chapter 13. There at the Passover supper, just hours before Jesus is going to the cross to crucified, he gets up, grabs a towel and some water and washes his friends' feet.
What amazing love. What incredible grace. I saw Jesus today.
