View of the part of the Farm

It is never a dull day when you are working on the farm.  There always something to do and more work to be done then one can ever imagine. Our crew of 25 was split into several small groups that did work all over the farm. To give you an idea what our group did in one week look below.
  • Front of house – siding came down, instalation went up, and the siding went back up
  • Back of house – siding went up
  • Planted an orchard
  • Planted blueberries and built cages for each plant so the rabbits won't eat them
  • Built a garden by outlining it with logs, filled the areas with compost, tilled each area
  • Started to build a vineyard – dug holes for posts, cut down trees to use for posts, skin the bark off of each tree, begin to put posts in each hole getting them level
  • Put in T-posts in the front two fields for rotational grazing
  • Hauled wood to the burn pile
  • Fed the baby goats
  • Moved old iron beams
  • Built the frames for 15 chicken tractors
  • Along with other things, cause I just couldn't keep track of where everyone was and what they were working on
Tuesday's To-Do List, every day this would change

One of our bigger projects for the week was to build 15 chicken tractors. Now if you are scratching your head and wondering what the heck that is, I was in the same boat when I was reading what I would be working on for the week. A chicken tractor is basically a portabale chicken coop. Every day it is moved to a fresh part of the field/grass so that the chckens have bugs to eat and so that they can fertilize the grass.
